    • Before registering for the lottery, please note the age and skill requirements for each Step.

    • Post-lottery: Once you receive a letter of confirmation, you may make changes, additions or cancellations via telephone, subject to availability. Please email ashton@courageoussailing.org or call the office 617-242-3821 as soon as possible if you must cancel your class. Be advised that "no-shows" will not be admitted but will instead be automatically waitlisted should they choose to apply for the 2017 program.
    • We expect long waitlists due to the high demand for our programs and very limited number of spots. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
    • Class Assignment Policy: In order to provide the best and safest experience possible for each young sailor, Courageous Sailing reserves the right to update class preferences based on that student's previous experience and recommendations from their previous year's instructor.

Step Program Fees & Scholarship Eligibility

Written by

Scholarship Eligibility, Application, & Policies

Our course fees are set on a "sliding scale" based upon a family's Annual Household Income or Adjusted Gross Income. See below tables describing the fees and sliding-scale for each course.

The registration and lottery process for admitance to the Courageous Sailing Summer youth programs is “Need-Blind.” This means that admission, in no respect, is based on ability to pay. Scholarships are readily available for all who qualify. Extenuating circumstances are always taken into consideration should a family choose to share them with our staff. All financial and personal information is kept confidential.

Important
Scholarship applications and payment for 2016 will not be accepted until after enrollment confirmations have been sent in April.

Instructions for Scholarship Applicants:

The scholarship application is contained within the enrollment form that is mailed to each registered student following the lottery. There is no separate scholarship application form.
Please contact the Youth Program Outreach Coordinator (617) 242-3821, ext. 12 with any questions or to obtain an additional copy of the enrollment form. Thank you!

Please submit one or more of the following by April 30:

    • 2015 Federal Income Tax Form 1040
    • Proof of being on a government assistance program (see FAQ)

Note
No scholarship application will be processed without copies of one or more of the above documents. This information will be reviewed solely by the Youth Program Director, the Executive Director, and their administrative assistants. After review, these sensitive documents will be destroyed immediately. For extra security, please black out Social Security Numbers on any documents you send us.
