Basic Keelboat Part 1 (12 hours)

Our Basic Keelboat Part 1 course covers the basics. We’ll teach you how to rig and derig the boat, leave and return to the dock, and get the boat to go where you want, upwind and down. This is the first half of the complete course, and perfect for those who prefer to a more relaxed pace, or whose schedules can’t accommodate the complete course.  In 12 hours we  cover enough to get you off to a good start on your sailing career.  By the end most students can sail a boat from point A to points B, C and D and back with confidence, and just a little bit of help from an instructor.

Prerequisite: None

Included text: US SAILING Basic Keelboat.

Price: $295

Basic Keelboat Part 2 (12 hours)

This course picks up where Part 1 left off. It is the next step for those who already know some of the basics, or Part 1 graduates who are ready for more.  In Part 2, we review the basics like tacking and gibing, and continue with the rest of the Basic Keelboat curriculum, including docking under sail and crew overboard recovery techniques. By the end, you arrive at the same place as those who take the 24 hour course, eligible for a Courageous skipper rating (skippering without an instructor!) and US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification.

Prerequisite: Basic Keelboat Part 1 or equivalent experience.

Included text: US SAILING Basic Keelboat.

Price: $295
