Charlestown

The America's Cup 12 meter Courageous once lived at Pier 4 in the Charlestown Navy Yard. This two-time America's Cup winner lent its name to Courageous Sailing in the late 1980s. While yacht Courageous has found a new home in Newport, RI, Courageous Sailing has continued for over 25 years at our Charlestown location.

Availability

Boats are usually available anytime you feel like sailing. But there are some limitations, as well as some times when it’s good to make a reservation in advance. On weekends during the season, it’s usually best to call ahead, especially for a J/22. Also, on weekdays during July and August, our youth program uses a majority of the Rhodes 19 fleet before 3:30pm. Even so, with a reservation, we can usually secure you a boat anytime after 12pm during these months. Members may reserve a boat online through our Boat Booking System - You may also call us at 617-242-3821 to check availability and reserve a boat.

Jamaica Pond

Courageous is pleased to offer youth and adult programming on Jamaica Pond in cooperation with the Boston Department of Parks & Recreation. In addition to sailing lessons and rentals, rowboats and kayaks rentals are also available. For news and updates, follow Jamaica Pond on Facebook.

Availability

Boats may be rented whenever the Youth Program is not active. The 2013 Youth Program will run Monday - Friday, 9am to 3:45pm in July and August. On weekends during the season, it’s usually best to call ahead.

Rates

Rowboat rentals are $10 per hour ($5 per hour with a fishing license).

Kayak rentals are $12 per hour.

Sailboat rentals are $15 per hour.

Private sailing lessons are $45 per hour. Lessons must be scheduled at least one week in advance with the Boathouse
