Never been out in Boston Harbor or Jamaica Pond? Dream of setting forth on the ocean blue? Then our Spring Break Taste-of-Sailing Program is for you!!
This April school vacation week, we invite Boston youth and youth groups to visit COURAGEOUS Charlestown and Jamaica Plain for a half-day adventure on the high seas! Our "Step 1: Taste-of-Sailing" program is the perfect way to get on the water and experience the excitement of sailing on Boston Harbor. Students will learn the bare basics, including boating safety, knot tying and steering.
Students must be between the ages of 8 and 18 and must be able to swim 25 yards and tread water for 90 seconds.
Read on below for instructions on how to register your students as individuals or to register your school or youth group.

Charlestown
Please Note: The Charlestown site during April Vacation week will be open to Charlestown residents and youth groups only.
Students may register for a single session, AM or PM, on any single day from Tuesday, April 22, through Friday, April 25. AM sessions will run from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. PM sessions will run from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Note we are closed for Patriot’s Day on Monday, April 21.
To sign-up, parents and legal guardians must visit Courageous Sailing Center on Pier 4 in-person on either Thursday, April 17, or Friday, April 18, between 12 PM and 7 PM. To register your child, please bring proof of Charlestown residency (e.g. a driver’s license, a piece of postmarked mail addressed to you, etc.). Please be prepared to sign a waiver certifying your child’s swimming ability.
Spring Break “Step 1: Taste-of-Sailing” is also open to Charlestown youth and school groups. Jamaica Pond
Please Note: The Jamaica Pond Site during April Vacation week will be open to Boston residents and youth groups only.
Students may register for a single session, AM or PM, on any single day from Tuesday, April 22, through Friday, April 25. AM sessions will run from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. PM sessions will run from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Note that while the Jamaica Pond Boat House will be open during regular operating hours on Monday, April 21 (Patriot’s Day), there will NOT be any classes running on that date.
To sign-up, parents and legal guardians must visit the Jamiaca Pond Boathouse on Friday, April 18 (ONLY!!), between 10 AM and 7 PM. To register your child, please bring proof of Boston residency (e.g. a driver’s license, a piece of postmarked mail addressed to you, etc.). Please be prepared to sign a waiver certifying your child’s swimming ability.
