About Make-A-Mark

MAM-food
Now in its 18th year, Make-A-Mark is Courageous Sailing's signature summertime gala on Pier 4. It is one of Boston Harbor's best parties of the year and our youth program's most important fundraiser.  Make-A-Mark features complimentary cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dancing and great music, while taking in the beautiful skyline from Boston's best waterfront venue. Any and all guests are welcome, even if you are not a sailor. All funds raised through our ticket sales, silent auction, raffle and event sponsorships go directly to support our youth programming and provide scholarships for children who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to learn to sail. So grab a friend (or better yet grab 9 friends!), don your best cocktail attire and come enjoy complimentary cocktails and great food from some of our favorites. In 2013 we were excited  to have amazing food and drink sponsors, including Capers Catering, Gourmet Caterers, Fireplace Restaurant, Fig's, Premier Bartending, Gordon's Fine Wine, Sam Adams, Goslings Dark Rum, and Double Cross Vodka. And the Rolling Who kept things lively with music and dancing under the Peterson's Party Center tent. Come enjoy a wonderful summer party under the lights of the Boston skyline, and thank you for supporting Courageous!

Tickets go on sale in June. Stay tuned for special early bird discounts.

FAF - Laser About Fund-A-Future

Every summer, Courageous provides programs for Boston youth ages 8 to 18. Our staff of 100 instructors specialize in creating a unique learning environment where young sailors can build their self-confidence and leadership skills through fun, challenging curriculum.

It costs $500 to fund one child through one week of our summer youth program. We are proud to serve over 1,000 children in 2013, most of whom qualify for full scholarships and participate for free. When you donate to Fund-A-Future you are directly supporting these scholarships for children who would not otherwise have the opportunity to learn to sail.

Thank you to our 2013 Make-A-Mark Sponsors

Questions about the event

Who will the proceeds benefit?

Courageous Sailing teaches sailing and life skills free of charge to over 1,000 Greater Boston children each year. We use sailing instruction as a platform for learning and growth, with a focus on personal responsibility, communication, teamwork, problem solving, and stewardship. All funds raised through our ticket sales, silent auction, raffle and event sponsorships go directly to support our youth programming and provide scholarships for children who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to learn to sail.

Why are funds needed?

While Courageous provided over 30,000 hours of programming to over 1,000 children in 2012, and will again in 2013, only one-third of students applying for our Summer Youth Program will be admitted into our program due to limited funding and capacity.  Additional funding is needed to expand access and to maintain the high quality of our programming and fleet.

Who will be there?

Members, neighbors, volunteers, parents, young professionals, sailors from throughout the region and anyone who wants to have fun while supporting Courageous Sailing - you and your friends!
