Scholarship Eligibility & Application

Our course fees are set on a "sliding scale" based upon a family's Annual Household Income or the Adjusted Gross Income. See below tables describing the fees and sliding-scale for each course.

The registration and lottery process for admitance to the Courageous Sailing Summer youth programs is “Need-Blind.” This means that admission, in no respect, is based on ability to pay. Scholarships are readily available for all who qualify. Extenuating circumstances are always taken into consideration should a family choose to share them with our staff. All financial and personal information is kept confidential.

Payment for 2013 need not be made until after enrollment confirmations have been sent post-lottery.

Please submit one or more of the following with your enrollment form:

- 2012 Federal Income Tax Form 1040
- Proof of being on a government assistance program (see FAQ)

Note

No scholarship application will be processed without copies of one or more of the above documents. This information will be reviewed solely by the Youth Program Director, the Executive Director and their administrative assistants. After review, these sensitive documents will be destroyed immediately.

Course Fees & Payment

If you have received confirmation that your child has been admitted to the Summer Youth Program, you can make your payment online below.

Payments may also be made via telephone (61-242-3821 x12) or by sending a check to: Courageous Sailing, One First Avenue, Boston, MA 02129.

10% Sibling Discount: For families paying course fees for more than one child, we offer a 10% discount on the course fees for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. children registered. If different amounts are due for each child, the highest course fee is due in full, and the discount applies to the rest. The discount does not apply if you have been awarded a scholarship. Please also note that the 10% discount applies to course fees only. The discount does not apply to the admin or extended day fees.

It costs approximately $650 per week per child for Courageous Sailing to operate its summer youth program. Our summer program fees have been generously underwritten by donors including the City of Boston, the business community, charitable foundations, our adult student/members, and individual participants like yourselves.

We respectfully request that families of means consider paying the full cost per student to Courageous or underwriting the cost of another less fortunate child to sail with us.
