The purpose of Step 4 is to improve upon your sailing skills.

Out team of sailors in step 4 has greatly enjoyed these past 8 days in racing and cruising. We have decided to discuss out experiences racing and cruising with a collective effort.

To begin with, racing has been an important part of the experience of the group. Practicing has improved all of our racing skills which has been awesome. We have also learned new things like using spinnakers and it has been really unique. Finally, sail tram has been a critical element involved in racing and we have all appreciated new skills learned with this.

Another key aspect of this past week and a half has been cruising. First of all, skills learned in cruising have been anchoring, setting up tents and cooking. On an emotional and social dimension; cooperation, teamwork, competition and the demanding supportive environment of Courageous have helped us Step 4 members excel in our strive to achieve optimal sailing technique.
